TOKYO -- Japan?s biggest cable and multi-systems operator, Jupiter Telecom (J:COM), has defied the recent disasters that slammed the country and continued to add subscribers through March and April.
Subscribers to J:COM?s cable offerings were up 5% in April year-on-year to 2.72 million, a gain of 130,000. Subscription growth was even stronger for broadband internet, up 7%, and telephone services, up 11.9%.
J:COM?s total revenue generating users were up 7.6% to just over 6.5 million.
Last year Liberty Global sold its 37.8% stake in J:COM to telecom operator KDDI for $4 billion.
