Premier or previously called Premier Automobiles has launched a brand new variant of its compact SUV, Rio. The new Premier Rio SUV has been equipped with the prominent 1.3 Litre MultiJet diesel engine borrowed from Fiat. Premier already had two variants of Rio including a diesel and petrol. The new diesel variant of this compact SUV has amplified the Rio lineup. Premier Rio 1.3L MultiJet has been rolled out with a price tag of Rs.6.72 lakh to Rs. 6.99 lakh, which is pretty exciting. The model launched abides by the norms of Bharat Emission four and is available in red, silver, black and white colors.
Looking at the big picture, the new Premier Rio diesel variant resourced with the 1.3litre of MultiJet diesel engine is capable of producing peak power of 75Ps and delivers a decent fuel economy of 18km per litre. The same engine is fitted in numerous other cars and churns out power between the range of 75 to 90PS, depending on the turbocharger. The other diesel variant of Rio that was already present in the lineup sported 1498cc of diesel engine producing 65PS of power. Therefore, the power is higher in the new Rio, while the mileage has gone up a notch as well.
Besides the engine, there are no changes done in the interiors and exteriors of the car. The Premier Rio with 1.3 Litre MultiJet has the same robust and aggressive appearance. The headlight cluster has been sculpted in a neat fashion, while the front grille has the Premier Logo positioned in the middle with the hind of chrome. The wheel arches have the prominent appearance that fit in 15 inches of alloy wheels. The higher ground clearance and the stylized tail lights enhance the overall exteriors of the compact SUV.
On the inside, there are no changes as well. The same comfort and luxury is provided to you. The front cabin has a very sophisticated and premium feel, while the rear seat passengers get ample of space. The instrumental panel present in the SUV is smart and the three-spoke steering wheel is ensures smooth handling. There are four AC vents (two on each side along with two in the centre) for the comfort of all occupants in the car. The presence of MP3 player with FM/AM radio makes sure that your ride in car becomes melodious and fun.
With such impressive engine option and comfort features, Premier Rio is certainly facing a tough competition from other compact SUVs in the Indian car market, which include Renault Duster, yet to be Ford EcoSport, Honda CR V and the very successful Mahindra XUV500. Hopefully, with the new engine option, Rio manages to triumph them all.
