? ? ? Animation is a type of optical allusion that involves the appearance of motion caused by displaying still images one after another. Animation is mostly displayed for entertainment purposes. It is considered a form of art that is shown all around the world. Cartoon animation is considered to be animation it its classic form. One famous animator who has done many movies that are well known is Glen Keane.
? ? Glen Keane was born on April 13, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was raised in Paradise Valley, Arizona. His love for animation developed as a kid watching his dad create his own cartoons. His father, Bil Keane, is the creator of The Family Circus. Glen?s younger self is represented as ?Billy? in this comic strip. When Glen first
started to draw his father gave him a copy of Burne Hogarth?s Dynamic Anatomy which allowed him to study the different body forms and ways of drawing. After high school Keane was offered a scholarship for football but denied the opportunity so he could apply to the California Institute of the Arts. There he was mentored by the animation teacher Jules Engel.
? ? In 1974 Keane left CalArts and joined Disney the same year. His first animations were featured in The Rescuers, drawing Bernard, penny, and ollie. He then went on to animate Elliot in the movies Pete?s Dragon that was about an orphan boy who had a pet dragon. Glen also animated the climactic bear showdown in The Fox and the Hound. In 1982 he was inspired by the hit movie Tron and worked with John Lassester who directed Toy Story 1 and 2.Together they made Where The Wild Things Are that was a revolutionary film for its time.
? ? In 1983 Keane left Disney and worked as a freelance artist which means he is contracted with either private individuals or companies to do paintings, drawings, or graphics. Artists like this are not considered?
